In March 2024, Connie became a 500 hr. RYT with Yoga Alliance. A RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) is a credential earned by yoga teachers whose training and teaching experience meet Yoga Alliance standards. Thanks to support of her ASNJ community, Connie gained valuable experience in teaching yoga throughout her teacher training course work. ASNJ is proud of her accomplishment and is happy to host her classes. Connie began casually practicing yoga back in July 1994, which is when she started Aikido at ASNJ. Since then, yoga has become an integral part of her life and a vital addition to her Aikido practice. Connie is a 5th Dan in Aikido and teaches Aikido at ASNJ.
Connie and ASNJ are delighted to continue offering yoga classes to ASNJ community, their family members, and friends at no charge.
About Yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body. The word, ‘yoga’ comes from the Sanskrit word “yuji,” meaning yoke or union. Yoga practice includes breathing exercises, meditation and poses designed to encourage relaxation and reduce stress. What we commonly call yoga is but one of eight parts of this ancient practice (Curious? see Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga). Like Aikido, a yoga practice can refresh your living in a meaningful and purposeful way.
